Vortech installs dozens of sewer main installations annually for both new construction as well as change overs from septic system to municipal connections.

Below are a series of pictures illustrating the decommissioning of a septic system and new sewer main installation to the city connection. City sewer became available in the area so our clients decided to abandon the old septic system and connect to the city service.

The installation starts with the decommissioning of the septic tank. As per VIHA requirements there is a specific process to follow. Upon decommissioning an exterior clean out will be installed for future access/service of the new main outside of the home/building. Choosing the best route possible becomes the next step as with all plumbing systems, the fewer the fittings the better to mitigate suspended solids in the system and assure adequate transfer of effluent to the city connection. We use our laser level to ensure adequate grades are met and maintained.
